Hivemapper is a crowd-sourced map data service that collects data-rich roadway video from global contributors, and uses AI to curate map data for a host of applications, including navigation, automotive, logistics, insurance, and government.  

In its early startup days, Hivemapper’s contributors relied on commercially available dash cameras. But as the company grew, it became evident that a bespoke hardware solution was needed to take Hivemapper to the next level.

As Hivemapper’s team pursued a variety of technical options for its custom dashcam along side our partners at Hellbender, D’Eramo Design devised and prototyped hardware architectures for each one—working closely with both teams in-house engineers to identify the best path forward. We kept brand identity front of mind, ensuring that each iteration captured and furthered Hivemapper’s differentiated visual style.
